Kentucky CNA training program must have at least 75 hours both classroom and clinical training. Some state – approved training programs may differ when it comes to number of hours in classroom and practical training.

If an approved SRNA moves to Kentucky from their home state, applicant must contact the Kentucky State Registered Nurse Aide Registry to obtain a transfer/reciprocity form. Applicant must also have an active status certification if not he or she is required to take an approved training course and the competency evaluation in Kentucky in order to be placed on SRNA Registry.

Renewal in Kentucky

To renew SRNA Certification in Kentucky:

(1) A pre-printed recertification form will be mailed out to the SRNA 2-3 months prior to your expiration date. If you still do not receive any notice, you may obtain renewal form by contacting Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry.

(2) Requirement for renewal is that you must have worked at least 8 hours as a nursing or nursing-related duties within 24 month period to retain certification. Proof of employment can be one of the following:

  • Paycheck Stub
  • W-2 form OR
  • Letter from a healthcare facility on official letterhead

(3) Completed form with required documents and fees must be mailed to the address indicated in the form.

To renew Expired SRNA Certification in Kentucky:

(1) SRNAs must renew their registration every two years. You can renew by submitting proof of employment for at least 8 hours of nursing related duties for pay during the two-year period that your registration was active.

(2) Complete the form with required documents and fees. Mail the form to the address indicated in the form.
