Reached the first 30 days mark with the new gig as Director of Ops with Golden Standard Enterprises (GSE). This has been an excellent opportunity for me and here are some things I've learned after going through in depth job search to land the 'right role'. - If culture and values are important to you, make that an important factor during the interview process and continue stressing that when starting. It's been amazing how much GSE has valued that not only to me but all employees. - The 30/60/90 split exists for a reason. Don't come in and 'kick the doors open' like its the wild west. Identify with your leader/owner what needs to be prioritized within those time frames and be sure ONLY those items are being completed. Yes its tough to look ahead, but focusing on the NOW items will help the business grow in the future. - Listen/Learn/Lead is super important for leadership roles, especially in small businesses, but should apply for all types. Take time to listen to everyone, learn about how the business is operating and what could help improve the business, and then take the lead in improving and developing the staff to reach those goals. - Finally, enjoy the ride! It's been very busy and a few times stressful, but I've enjoyed the ride and experience, taking things in, and knowing everything will fall into place. Be patient with everyone and continue to build relationships and learn how to communicate day-day. Everything will pay off in the long run!I'm still here to support those in my network looking for that 'key role' and also those who have started out recently. Curious to read any other experiences that are similar or different and we can help others smoothly transition!!😎

If you're waiting for it to feel good to say "no" at work, then grab a snack, you'll be waiting awhile...Instead, think of simply weighing the different types of guilt: ➡️ Guilt over not supporting your colleagues at a conference vs guilt over missing your daughter's 1st birthday.😊 When we are clear on our values, it becomes easier to prioritize guilt in a way that's more in line with the life we want to live.👨👧👦 When we get clear on what's fact vs what's anxiety, it becomes even easier to see which activities we should be prioritizing. Sometimes we need to really sit back and get clear on how we're prioritizing guilty feelings to get the perspective we need to make different choices! Why do you think we choose work over family so often?!

Today is the day I start my new job after a period of redundancy, and I cannot wait to get back to work! 🎉When I first lost my job I was completely lost, I hadn't seen it coming, it was sudden and I had no idea what I wanted to do next 🤦♀️People started asking me "What do you want to do?", "What would you love to do?", "What would set your soul on fire?".I hated these questions, because I have never really known what I've wanted to do, and I still don't have a concrete idea of one role that would be my "perfect job".So I started asking myself some questions:How can I find out what I would enjoy doing for work? What things have I enjoyed in my previous roles? What jobs might include some of these aspects moving forwards? And then I also came across this book - Joy At Work by Steve Ahnael NobelSometimes when we feel stuck it's because we're not asking ourselves the right questions. We're not looking for solutions, we're just complaining about the problems and circ*mstances we're currently living 😬We get stuck in victim mode!Losing my job was one of the hardest things I've been through, but there was no way I was staying in victim mode, stuck.I was going to read this book, take stock of my working life to date and work through figuring out what I would actually love to do for work.During my search for work, my new job came out of the blue, it was unplanned, it was interesting, it was different from all the others I'd been looking at, and most importantly it excited me 🎉By following the steps in this book, by listening to my gut and getting clear on what I do want from future employment I seem to have manifested a job that will be giving me joy at work again - And I'm so grateful for all that has lead me to this day 🙏I'll share more on the new job over the next few weeks/months.But for now, if you're feeling stuck in your current job, or maybe you're between jobs and you feel lost and unsure what to do next...Go get this book and work through uncovering what will bring you joy at work.It is possible to love the work you do 💗

After taking a couple of weeks to reflect on my recent layoff from CVS Health, where I dedicated 17 years of my career, I’ve come to view it as an unexpected gift. I’d like to share my perspective with my fellow long-serving colleagues who find themselves in a similar situation. We now have a unique opportunity to leverage the wealth of skills and experiences we’ve accumulated to make a positive impact in new and exciting ways. When I look back on my career, the most cherished memories revolve around collaborating with passionate individuals who shared a common goal. We enriched ourselves through these collective efforts, and I firmly believe that our skills are transferable across industries. Whether it’s strategic thinking, leadership, innovation, collaboration, or coaching, these are talents we can carry with us and apply to any field, making meaningful contributions wherever we go.I personally look forward to building new connections and collaborating with a fresh network of like-minded individuals who share our visions and passions. When we reflect on our careers spanning 20, 30, or more years, it’s not just about projects and achievements; it’s the people we’ve met, the laughter, the tears, and the challenging moments that leave a lasting impression. These memories serve as a driving force, propelling us forward to create more remarkable experiences.Embrace this transition as an opportunity to make an impact beyond what you’ve already achieved. Our journey continues, and I’m excited to see where it leads us next. #director #leadership #coaching #hireme #directorjobs #dataanalytics #dataanalysts

Next week, I start my new job. 🎉 Three things that I always do when I start a new job are: 1️⃣ Find out about their DE&I efforts and how to get involved.2️⃣ Schedule a little 1:1 time with each team member to get to know them and find out how we can make each other’s worlds be more connected. 3️⃣ Perfect my elevator speech on the company and my team. What are the things that you prioritize right out of the gate when starting a new role?

As I step into this new year in search of my new role, I am driven by a real sense of passion - an ambition to make an impactful difference to the next company I join. I think passion is what propels us all forward. It combines each step with purpose and enthusiasm. I firmly believe that the draw of a new role is not solely in the responsibilities it holds, but in the opportunity it presents to combine your passion with your profession. In my case, people, leadership and the customer is what drives me. Knowing I thrive in this area and will make a impact in a company where I can utilise these skills is what keeps me pushing forward. I cant wait to embrace the chance to channel my energy, skills, and creativity into something transformative. In the next new endeavour, I'm determined to innovate and evolve. I see a new role as a platform to cultivate new connections and an opportunity to foster collaboration, a shared vision and collective drive toward common goals. It's about forging relationships, and collectively thriving in a space where passion becomes a unifying force. The more passionate we are about the role we undertake, the more resilient we become. Providing the unwavering belief in the impact of our actions, even amidst challenges. It fuels the perseverance to navigate obstacles, learn from setbacks, and emerge stronger, more resilient than before. Passion ignites innovation. It is the catalyst that sparks curiosity and drives us to explore pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve. For those navigating similar paths or considering a change this year, take a moment to identify what genuinely brings you joy, fulfilment, and a sense of genuine accomplishment. Embrace those elements that resonate deeply with you, and chase them. Let this year be your opportunity to discover a role that ignites your passion—I certainly am! Happy 2024!
